A quality futon frame is the foundation for a good nights sleep. A good frame supports the futon mattress. In addition to being the futon sofa's foundation, the futon frame is also a mechanism. Lowering the backrest of the futon frame enables the bendable futon mattress to become a bed. There are different ways to convert a futon frame and much of it depends on the model and features. Sizes range from chair sized futon frames with ottomans that can make 39" x 75" single beds. The most common style is the 54" x 75" full size or double bed. Some futon frames also come is a 60" x 80" queen size. Loveseats make full sized beds, but also require a separate ottoman. This size is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Some love seat futon frames come with special extension pieces that slide out. Futon frames are usually made of wood, metal, or a combination of both materials.
